ENERGY EFFICIENT PRODUCTS
ENHANCE YOUR HOME’S ENERGY EFFICIENCY WITH OUR ENERGY-SAVING OPTIONS.
While all of America’s Best Choice of windows are energy efficient, certain options and upgrades are available to increase energy efficiency and significantly reduce utility costs. The addition of Low-E Glass and Argon Gas, combined with our Intercept Spacer System, can increase the efficiency of windows by 35-40 percent.
The more energy efficient the window, the lower your utility bills in both summer and winter. In addition, the strain on your HVAC system is reduced, which lengthens the life of your equipment. Harmful UV rays are also reduced when using the Low-E glass coating, thereby protecting drapes, carpets, artwork, hardwoods, furniture, etc. from harmful UV rays.
Choosing energy efficient windows from Americas Best Choice is a smart choice that not only reduces utility costs, but is good for the planet too!
There are several factors that are considered in the efficiency equation:
-
SOLAR HEAT GAIN
Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) measures how well a product blocks heat from the sun. The lower the SHGC, the better a product is at blocking unwanted heat gain. Blocking solar heat gain is particularly important during the summer cooling season.
-
U-FACTOR
U-Factor measures how well a product prevents heat from escaping a home or building. The lower the U-Factor, the better a product is at keeping heat in. U-Factor is particularly important during the winter heating season.
-
VISIBLE TRANSMITTANCE
Visible Transmittance (VT) measures how much light comes through a product. The higher the VT, the higher the potential for daylighting.
